Perch Technologies, LLC ("Perch" or "We") is committed to maintaining the following Privacy Policy to protect your personal information. Please carefully review this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service before registering your account with us and entering information about you and your electricity usage and preferences and, potentially, using an additional process to enroll with Perch to become premium members. By using Perch's online account registration form or accessing the Perch website, you signify you are in agreement with both our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, subject to our "Changes to our Privacy Policy" section below.
We permit registrants to submit first and last name, email address, phone number, text/SMS number, utility service address and zip code, utility billing information (including utility account holder name, account number and account credentials and current and past monthly bill amounts), current and past electric supply rates, current and past energy usage information, energy preferences, renewable energy preferences, credit/debit card information (including billing address, expiration date, and security code) and other information to Perch via the online account registration. When you sign up for premium services using an additional process, we also will collect and retain records of your specific energy-related choices and transactions.
If you choose to register with Perch as either an initial registrant or premium enrollee, you may access your account to check on usage data, savings and renewable energy impact estimates and actual performance, energy and renewable energy settings, and past energy-related transactions.
Perch also automatically collects information about your computers and mobile devices used to access the Perch website and registration/enrollment forms, including internet protocol (IP) information for your computer or proxy server, the type of web browser used, the language setting for the browser used, mobile device identifiers, geolocation of the device, and the ways in which you access the Perch website and services, such as referring entrance and exit pages, URLs, platform type, screen resolution information, the number of clicks, domain names, landing pages, pages and content viewed (including ads viewed) and order of such views, the amount of time spent on particular pages, and date and time you use the services, error logs and similar information.
Perch also automatically collects cookies and web beacon information that allow us to recognize you when you return to the website using the same computer or mobile device and web browser. The types of cookies or web beacons used by Perch may include "essential" technologies necessary for operation of the website, products and services; "performance" technologies to improve the user experience with the website, products and services; "functionality" technologies that allow us to remember how you are logged into the Perch website, how you logged out, and the actions taken while you were logged in; and "advertising" technologies that are used by third-party service providers to deliver advertising to you on other third-party websites. Most browsers automatically collect cookies and other tracking technologies, but you can modify your browser settings to decline cookies. In some cases, however, doing so may impact your ability to use the Perch website. Additionally, some browsers may give you the option to use "do not track" settings. The Perch website also may include social media features and widgets, such as "Like" or "Share" buttons. These features may collect certain of your information and may set a cookie to allow the feature to function properly. These features may be hosted on the Perch website or hosted by a third party. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.
The information that we receive from you by our registration or enrollment forms or that we automatically receive from your computer, your mobile devices or your use of the Perch website is generally used for our business purposes to (1) improve our services and enhance your experience with Perch, (2) help us communicate with you, (3) help us understand the performance of advertisements, and (4) understand engagement of users on our social media channels.
Among other specific examples, we may use your information to provide you with information about your energy services, products, savings opportunities and products and, if enrolled, to provide you with information on our energy broker services and additional services and/or products offered by Perch or its affiliates, switch you to a new supplier, notify you about new features of our services and products, administer sweepstakes and contests, verify information that you provide us as well as representations and warranties you make in the Terms of Service and Agency Authorization and Broker Agreement, perform analytics or research, generate and review reports and data about our user base and user patterns, and to personalize promotional messages or content on the website, via email or other ads or the Perch site or other websites. We will also use information to send you emails or texts/SMS with information as described in this policy, subject to applicable legal requirements (including the opportunity to opt out of certain communications).
We will not share your email address or other individually-submitted registration or enrollment information, other information received from you or automatically collected information with parties outside of Perch and its corporate affiliates, and any retail electric suppliers if you elect Perch's premium services, except in aggregated or de-identified form (which is not subject to any restrictions under this Privacy Policy) or as noted in this Privacy Policy. This limitation on sharing does not include trusted third parties who assist us in advertising products and services or trusted third persons who assist us in operating our online applications, conducting our business, or servicing you. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our website policies, or protect our or others' rights, property or safety. We may also transfer your information in the event of a sale, merger, acquisition, or other corporate restructuring.
Our website and online services are not directed to, and we do not intend to, or knowingly, collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. In the event that we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under age 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third-party products or services on the Perch website or links to services offered on such third-party websites. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. If you have questions about how these third parties use and collect data, please carefully read their privacy policies. However, we seek to protect the integrity of Perch and welcome any feedback regarding these third-party sites.
We retain individually collected information as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes provided in this Privacy Policy, unless required or permitted by applicable laws.
We reserve the right, for any reason, to update our Privacy Policy as necessary. In the event it is updated, we will indicate the effective date of the changes at the top of the Privacy Policy.
